Sheila Rae Briceno, 44, of Lapwai, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, due to complications of diabetes.



She was born Nov. 17, 1958, in Burney, Calif., to Carla Bernal Norris and Michael Briceno Sr. She lived in the Lewiston-Clarkston area since the age of 5.

She attended Lewiston High School and was in the first graduating class of the Nez Perce Tribal School in 1980. She then worked at Best for eight years and the Nez Perce Food Distributor Program for two years where she made many good friends and was well liked by all. She also worked for Fuchs Flowers and Regis Inventory.



She married Bill Davis; they later divorced. She married Marion Hatley; they later divorced.



At the time of her death, she was engaged to be married to Michael Barnhouse.

Sheila enjoyed being around friends and family. She was artistic, and would make jewelry, draw pictures and excelled in poetry. She had a poem published in 2000 of which she was very proud.



Sheila played darts, pool and was the top woman arm wrestler in the valley before her health began to fail. Sheila learned to play the guitar with her grandfather, learning quickly. Sheila was always so excited to go camping up at Mud Springs Camp every summer, and she never wanted to leave. Sheila will be missed by all who knew her. She was my best friend, I love you.



Sheila is survived by her mother, Carla Norris and her stepfather, Jim, both of Coulee Dam, Wash.; her brother, Michael Briceno and wife, Debbie, of Lapwai; sister Vivian Wilson and husband, Mark, of Lapwai; her fianc, Michael Barn-house of Lewiston; brother Cliff Briceno; grandmother Vivian Bernal of Lewiston; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.



Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston. A dinner will follow at the VFW Hall on Warner Avenue Lewiston.

The family suggests memorials to Tri-State Hospital Renal Dialysis Center in Clarkston.
